There are great things happening in the
neighborhoods in Castanhal.  Recently,
we visited a weekly Bible class held in a
house in a poor neighborhood.  The
owner of the house has a tremendous
heart for kids, and they just flock to her for
Bible study, fellowship and refreshments.

Here is the amazing thing:
every week
she packs 60 - 80 kids, ages 4 - 14 in a
small shelter outside.
 While we were
there, they sang, recited Bible verses and
welcomed us with open arms!  The joy of
the Lord shown in many happy faces.

In this neighborhood , there are some kids
that do not go to school because their
parents or families cannot, or will not in
some cases, pay the small fees for
uniforms and supplies.  So these kids just
spend their days on the streets.  Some of
these kids may even be candidates for the
children's home.  We are praying on how
to get to know them and minister to them.
Snack time
is a big hit!
Personal space is never
a consideration!
One of the goals for our church here in
Castanhal has been to start a drop-in
center for these kids.  Could this be the
time to start making this a reality?
These fields are white with harvest!

Arms of Love Children's Home -
Castanhal, Brazil
Provision for the building of the children's home
Wisdom in designing the homes and the property
Workers for the harvest
Progress in  Portuguese
Selling of the Marituba property
Large amounts of funds will be needed to build the homes and buildings for the
Children's Home.  Pray that God will move hearts to be generous so that kids will
have a home and a family ...soon!
The homes and property designs will meet the needs of the children, glorify God, and
reflect good stewardship of God's provision through the donors' financial support.
We are looking for many workers dedicated to raising children in a home and
family centered around Jesus Christ.  Please pray that hearts will be moved to
join us.  Or, ask God if you might be one of those workers!
After almost two months, we are learning Portuguese!  Praise God!  But there is
such a long way to go so that we can communicate with our neighbors and
friends.  Please continue to pray that our minds and tongues will adapt easily.
Years ago, a generous donor gave a parcel of land in nearby Marituba, close to
Belem.  We are trying to sell this land for funding Camp Shalom.  The proceeds
will go a long way to help pay for the building construction.
Please pray with us!
...the prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.  James 5:16
Again I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about
anything you ask for, it will be done for you.  Matthew 18:19
Please pray for
the children!
Please pray for His
hand of protection
while they are living
on the streets or in
abusive homes.  Pray
that God will shield
them until they come
to Camp Shalom.
Updates on Trevor
Thank you all for praying for Trevor.  July has been a big turn-around month for him.
He got involved in two different Bible Study groups and has made many new friends!
After the studies, he spends time playing various games including: "taco-ball"  (looks
like a poor man's version of cricket).  All this interaction has really helped his outlook
on being here as well as his Portuguese.
God is moving among the children in Castanhal!
Praise God, our Provider!
Funds have been provided to start the process for architectural drawings for the
homes and property!  This is a first big step: once the drawings are completed, we
will be able to begin small pieces of the construction such as the property wall
and utilities upgrades, as well as formalize some of our fund raising efforts.
